In still water, Helen can row at an average rate of 3.5 miles per hour. Today she took her rowboat out on the Hudson River. It took her 2 hours to row upstream, against the river's current, to meet her friend at their boat club and only 1.5 hours to return downstream. Write and solve an equation to find the rate at which the current of the river was flowing.
