Chapter 10, Lesson 7
Pythagorean triples are numbers that make the equation a2 + b2 = c2 true. The chart shows five rows of Pythagorean triples.
In order to write the numbers for Row 6, first write the answers to these clues.
Clue 1: Make an observation about the numbers in the a-column.
Clue 2: Write an expression to show how the c-numbers are related to the b-numbers.
Clue 3: Write an expression to show how each b-number is related to the square of one-half of each a-number, (a ÷ 2)2.
Now use the answers to the clues to write the numbers for Row 6. Check to see that the numbers you have written are Pythagorean triples.
