Problem of the Day

Chapter 5, Lesson 2

Yesterday, Bea and Jay learned that:

The proper factors of a positive integer are all of its factors except for the integer itself.

When the sum of its proper factors is equal to the number, the number is called a perfect number.

Today, Bea and Jay learned that:

When the sum of its proper divisors is greater than the number, the number is called an abundant number.

When the sum of its proper divisors is less than the number, the number is called a deficient number.

Bea said that 30 is an abundant number and Jay said that 148 is a deficient number. With whom do you agree or disagree? Explain.
