Problem of the Day

Chapter 5, Lesson 1

A baseball player's batting average is the number of hits divided by the number of times at bat, expressed in decimal form.

Janet plays in a women's league and had these results for her first two seasons in the league:

1st-year batting average = 0.300
2nd-year batting average = 0.353
Combined 2-year batting average = 0.328

If Janet was at bat a total of 320 times for both years combined, what was the total number of times she was at bat during the first year?
