Sr. Catherine D. LeTourneau, IHM

Sister Catherine Danielle, IHM, is currently teacher of accelerated mathematics grades five through eight and grade 8 earth science at Saint Catharine of Siena School in Reading, Pennsylvania. The accelerated mathematics program challenges students to be able to complete Honors Algebra I at the eighth grade level. Sister is the mathematics coordinator at Saint Catharine of Siena school as well. Sister serves as a member of the Algebra I Curriculum Committee for the Diocese of Allentown, Pennsylvania, working with the team who created the curriculum for Honors Algebra I. Since 1986 Sister Catherine has worked with William H. Sadlier, Inc. in developing the Progress in Mathematics series for grade K through 8. Sister has given numerous professional development workshops on topics including: problem solving, algebraic reasoning, and assessment in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Louisiana, and Florida, not only for William H. Sadlier, Inc., but also for principals and diocesan mathematics coordinators. For four years Sister taught teacher education at Rosemont College and Sister has taught for many years in elementary and middle schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the diocese of Allentown. For five years (1999-2004) Sister served as Principle for Father Walter J. Ciszek Elementary School (now Trinity Academy) in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania. For seven years Sister served on the Science Curriculum Committee for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Sister developed resources for project S.I.T.E. (Students Investigating the Environment, 1977-1979) working in conjunction with the Chester County Intermediate Unit.
