Sister Marianne Viani, SNJM, M.A.

Marianne Viani, SNJM, is the associate superintendent for Curriculum and School Improvement for the Department of Catholic Schools, Archdiocese of San Francisco. Sister Marianne is responsible for curriculum development, professional staff development, accreditation, and assessment. Prior to coming to San Francisco, she was a regional supervisor in the school department for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles (1986-1990), the elementary school supervisor for the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (1976-1986), a principal, and a teacher. She has served as regional chairperson for Supervision, Personnel and Curriculum, a division of Chief Administrators of Catholic Education. Sister has been chairperson of numerous accreditation teams for the Western Catholic Education Association, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges throughout the state of California as well as in Arizona, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Guam, and Saipan. She has also served on the Blue Ribbon Schools National Review Panel and on several college and school boards, and presented workshops at conventions of the National Catholic Educational Association. Sister Marianne has a master's degree in education with a concentration in reading from Holy Names University in Oakland, California. She holds both a K-8 teaching credential and a reading specialist credential for pre-school, K-12, and adults for the state of California.
